Abstract
Spatial analysis is applied in this case study to mine the information in the fundamental national geographical database of CASW. The geographic parameters used for the case study include the longitude, latitude, slope, aspect, distance to water resources and elevation of the residential spots in three phases of TM image of Longxi County in Gansu Province (1980, 1995, and 2000). The spatial analyzing projects are managed in VBS and AML languages within the ArcWorkstation 8.3 and ArcDesktop 8.3. The results are expected to be helpful for policy makers of local administration in the eco-environment immigration, in order to alleviate the pressures imposed by the local residents who are heavily stricken by poverty.
