Abstract
In this paper, we report the results of experimental investigations into the propagation of laser radiation under the conditions of developed convective turbulence over a heated surface. The estimates of the Rayleigh number of the thermal flow over the surface shown that Ra ~ 108 ÷ 1010. The laser beam (λ=0.63 μm) propagated at the heights of 18, 25, and 36 cm above the surface. The path length in the turbulent medium was 2 m. The optical system formed a plane wave with the Gaussian intensity distribution. The displacements of the laser beam image were measured simultaneously along the horizontal (x) and vertical (y) coordinates by the device based on a dissector tracking system. The variance of displacement of the image centroid σ2a(2R), the correlation functions b(τ) and the spectral densities of fluctuations fW(f) were calculated for each coordinate. The dependence of a variance of fluctuations of displacement of the image on diameter of the receiver under different conditions is compared.
