Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to provide the reader with a deeper understanding the significance of location and location based services and their application in the context of the digital city and how to set up a LBS platform on the digital city information infrastructure. First, we review the theory and technology of LBS and its significance. Then, based on the review of the development of the digital city, the characteristics and classification of the LBS digital city context are discussed. Finally, we try to construct a location based services platform in the context of the digital city using the grid computing technologies.
