Abstract
The paper discusses problems connected with evaluating the efficiency of new Quality of Web Service (QoWS) mechanisms for Web servers through carrying out simulation experiments. Problems of a precise characterization of a Web traffic, modeling of Web client requests and modeling of the Web servers are talked over. The paper also includes an example that shows how to use data recorded in a Web server log file to generate input data for the Web server simulator and presents results of using such a simulator to testing two different kinds of scheduling disciplines for the server resources: a standard "First In First Out" policy and a policy that schedules the requests according to the smallest size of requested file.
