Abstract
This paper presents a new way of using a theory of topology optimum and PID control theory to design a microgripper system. The driver of microgripper is a piezoelectricity ceramics (PZT) microactuator. This study uses a PZT microactuator of 5 mm length, 3 mm width and 0.5 mm thickness and analyzes the different performances of the microactuator when applied to different voltages. The study defines the compliant amplifier design domain as 9.2 mm × 8.1 mm with a 0.5 mm thickness and discusses the effect of different optimization parameters. The driver is a PZT microactuator that can actuate 10.46μm output displacement to the compliant microgripper. A PID controller was designed for the microgripper system. Improvement of the control performance of the system was obtained.
