Abstract
This contribution deals with new design of the SMU 1m interferometer for the calibration of long gauge blocks, which is intended to be realized in next few years. Its scheme is based on the current design built 25 years ago and the main goal is to eliminate some significant sources of the measurement error and uncertainty. Three alternatives are indicated. They can be realized subsequently in order to avoid a longer period between dismantling of a current scheme and installation of the new one.
