Abstract
AstroPhotonica Europa (APE) is a partnership to exploit photonic principles for astronomy and related areas, using and enriching the existing research and industrial infrastructure. The primary goal is to make instruments for future telescopes such as the Extremely Large Telescopes (ELTs) and ground- and space-based interferometry affordable and practicable by exploiting photonic principles. This paper describes the aims of the partnership, its constitution and its plans.
