Abstract
Based on ZigBee technology, we designed a new type of wireless communication system for automatic meter reading which can transmit the processed number of the meter. First, we expatiated on the characters and advantages of ZigBee to our system, including short distance, low-power, low data transmission rate, low-cost and so on .Then we completed the design of network and introduce how to build a node. What's more, we tested the wireless communication between two nodes in common household environment. The experimental result shows that the system is simple, reliable and low cost.
