Abstract
A Bragg grating-based temperature sensor is fabricated in bismuth oxide fibre with femtosecond pulse duration, 800 nm radiation and a phase mask. The Bragg grating resonance of the sensor possesses a wavelength sensitivity to temperature that is three to four times larger than similar devices made in silica fibre. Spectral, thermal and stress characteristics of the Bragg grating sensor are also presented.
