Abstract
Even though OFDM is a well established modulation format in the wireless community, it is relatively new in fiberoptics. In this paper we give an overview of the past, present and future of optical OFDM for long-haul fiber-optic transmission systems and discuss several application spaces for the commercialization of optical OFDM.
