3 November 2010 Methods of data organization in geo-spatial framework of Digital Earth

The Geo-spatial Framework is an important foundation of Digital Earth consisting of spatial reference framework and Geo-spatial Data, and provides spatial position criterion for spatial and other non-spatial data, and implements conformity and share of all kinds of information sources. The article introduces the current organization methods of spatial data which is the most essential part of Geo-spatial Framework. Then on the basis of analyzing the characteristics respectively, it summarizes the advantages and disadvantages of them. In order to manage the Geo-spatial Framework data better, the article advances the organization methods of data of commixed database of Geo-spatial Framework model by integrating some advanced database technologies such as RDBMS and the Spatial Database Engine, namely on the basis of database and the data of Geo-spatial Framework divided in a preceding part of this paper, it describes layer-delaminating, block-dividing, map-dividing and so on to organize spatial data, including DLG, DOM, DEM, and thematic data, taking example for the data of urban planning. At the same time it also realizes integrated management of these data. Finally, combined with related data organization example, it implements these foregoing methods advanced and verifies the reliability and feasibility of them.
