Abstract
We propose a novel RoF architecture for simultaneously realizing optical single sideband (SSB) millimeter-wave (mm-wave) signal generation and wavelength reuse for uplink connection. In the central office, the optical SSB signal with frequency-doubling is generated via proper dc-bias on an integrated dual-parallel Mazh-Zehnder modulator. In the base station, both the 2nd order sidebands and partial central carrier of the generated optical SSB signal are beat to generate mm-wave signal that has double the frequency of the RF drive signal, while the other partial central carrier is remodulate with upstream data for uplink transmission.
