Abstract
This paper describes a robust technology investment program to improve Earth observation capabilities. Four key challenges are identified, along with a brief overview of technologies addressing each of these challenges. The remainder of the paper focuses upon active remote sensing technology developments, including both lidar and radar advancements, supporting priority Earth science measurements. Technology advancements for each of these measurements - such as aerosols, altimetry, and 3D winds -- are highlighted.
