Abstract
A system was developed which enables the fully automated surface defect detection and evaluation using either magnetic particle or liquid penetrant testing. The different system components are - robotics for object handling or handling of illumination and camera - magnetic particle or liquid penetrant test procedure, - illumination with visible and/or UV-light, - image reception with Video-camera, - data-acquisition and data-processing, - on-line defect-detection and accept/reject-decision The contribution describes the system as well as practical experiences gained in industrial installations and application demonstrations.
