Abstract
A method for attachmet of any aminoacid residue to the protoporphyrin (PP) molecule has been developed leading to synthesis of a new class of protoporhyrin derivatives. Photosensitising properties of the new derivatives have been measured under "in vitro" conditions and compared with those of hematoporphyrin (HP). Dimerization constants of the new photosensitizers in aqueous PBS solutions were also determined.
