26 September 2013 The gas pixel detector at the focus of an x-ray optics

We describe here the session of measurements that allowed the imaging capabilities of the Gas Pixel Detector at the focus of an X-ray optics to be assessed. Firstly laboratory measurements and Monte Carlo simulations were performed in order to study the intrinsic position resolution of the detector. Then a stand-alone test of the JET-X FM-2 optics was performed at the PANTER X-ray test facility on November 2012, showing basically no variation with respect to the results obtained in 1996. Finally a session of measurements performed at the same facility allowed the imaging capability of the GPD at the focus of this JET-X optics to be calibrated.
