Abstract
This paper presents an approach for extending traditional frame-based representation languages by allowing rules, which are associated with the objects they reference, to be inherited in a manner similar to slots or attributes of that object. Rule inheritance is introduced within the framework of RIKA, a program designed to provide assistance on the task of building and modifying knowledge-based expert systems. A generalization classification for establishing relationships among slots is also discussed.
