Highlights in Medical Imaging of COVID-19

Medical Imaging has a vital role to play in the detection, diagnosis, and treatment of COVID-19, especially in the context of the lung pathologies associated with the disease. New methods of image analysis inform clinical patient management and scientific investigation toward understanding and defeating this disease. The speakers in this session offer highlights in medical imaging of COVID-19.

Speakers:

  • Jeremias Sulam and Paul Yi (Johns Hopkins University)
  • Germán Corredor and Anant Madabhushi (Case Western Reserve University)
  • Harrison Barrett and Luca Caucci (University of Arizona)
  • Jordan Fuhrman and Maryellen Giger (The University of Chicago)

This session concludes with 20 minutes of questions and conversation between the panelists and the audience.

Deep Learning in Medical Imaging

Deep learning has been extensively used for medical image processing problems. Deep neural network architectures and methods can replace time-consuming manual segmentation methods and enhance complex detection and classification tasks, saving valuable time and conferring remarkable accuracy in distinguishing subtle differences among data. The speakers in this session offer insights into the role of deep learning in medical imaging.

Speakers:

  • Ron Summers (National Institutes of Health)
  • Ehsan Samei (Duke University)
  • Murray Loew (George Washington University)

This session concludes with 20 minutes of questions and conversation between the panelists and the audience.
