Chapter 16:
Assembly
Editor(s): Rudiger Hentschel; Bernhard Braunecker; Hans J. Tiziani
Abstract
All kinds of lenses assembled to doublets or triplets for optics consumers use this technology. The single components, lenses, and mechanical housings are manufactured using standard processes. The optical components can be directly assembled into housings without additional adjusting. To correct color aberrations, most optical systems also need cemented optical elements, for example, for objectives, eyepieces, and erector systems. Cemented components are doublets, made of two singlets, or triplets, made of doublets and singlets.
