Division of Recording Plane for Multiple Recording and Its Digital Reconstruction Based on Fourier Optics
Abstract
14.1 Introduction Multiplexing techniques, such as angular division multiplexing, wavelength division multiplexing, etc., have been widely applied to different optical information processes for an efficient, optimized, or smart utilizing of the processing components. In this communication, we introduce a new concept, namely, recording-plane division multiplexing (RDM), if it is acceptable, and its relevant experimental approaches, which can be implemented in different domains to carry out multiplex recordings of different parameters on a single recording plane. As introduced in the Section 14.2, the multiple recordings will be implemented by pulsed holography, in which angular division multiplexing (ADM) or wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) can be applied for an ultrafast recording with a high resolution in the time domain. In Section 14.3, the implementation of multiple recordings of color patterns will be described, for which patterns with different element color will be recorded in a single monochromatic recording plane by the help of a specially designed color-encoding grating. Experiment and digital reconstructions results will be reported, respectively, in the above sections, in which Fourier transformation and filtering are used to obtain separated images, and display of a series of images with a high resolution in the time domain, or a fused image with multiple colors can be obtained at the end of the processing. A conclusion and discussion will be given in the last section.
