Abstract
It will be prudent to briefly review those aspects of densitometry that affect the measurement of microdensity. The measurement of optical density is a deceptively simple exercise in theory, but has a number of pitfalls in practice that reduce the credibility of those measurements. Because these pitfalls are deeper for microdensitometry, it is essential that they be disclosed as early as possible so that their impact may be either lessened or otherwise mitigated.
