Chapter 6:
Configuration of Microdensitometer
Abstract
In using the microdensitometer, whether it be for an area scan of a portion of an aerial photograph or a scan of a step tablet or an edge target, the microdensitometrist is forced to choose optics and apertures, sampling intervals, and scanning speeds ( to name but a few) to produce the desired, usually prespecified, result. These choices, made prior to the actual scanning operation, are best made on a systematic basis to insure proper instrumental operation. The systematic selection of components and settings through a protocol is called con.figuration, which this chapter considers in great detail.
