Abstract
Converting a color specification from one space to another requires finding the links of the mapping. A frequently used link is the polynomial method. Polynomial regression is based on the assumption that the correlation between color spaces can be approximated by a set of simultaneous equations.
This chapter describes the mathematical formulation of the regression method using matrix notation. Examples of the forward and backward color transforms using the regression method are given, and the extension to spectral data is discussed. Finally, the method is tested and conversion accuracies are reported.
