Abstract
The diffraction technique for diagnostics of phase singularities based on the edge diffraction model (Chapter 2), being initially applied to detection and diagnostics of correlation singularities in partially spatially coherent, quasimonochromatic fields (Chapter 3) and partially polarized combined optical beams (Chapter 4), can be successfully applied to the diagnostics of spectral vortices in polychromatic (white light), temporally incoherent optical fields of arbitrary complexity. Isolated optical vortices are produced (e.g., by computer generated holograms illuminated by a light beam from a temporal source), as are phase singularities in white-light random speckle fields. It is worth noting that coherency in any hypostasis (temporal or spatial) must take place, as the phase singularities are always of interference origin.
