Abstract
This chapter provides an overview of auto LiDAR design and brief discussions of the design of a 3D mapping LiDAR, a laser vibrometer, and a wind-sensing LiDAR. Various types of LiDAR are discussed in Chapter 4, which is more about the technology and its applications. This chapter focuses more on design process. Auto LiDAR is currently the dominant application of LiDAR from a monetary point of view. Commercial 3D mapping LiDARs are widespread, and wind LiDARs are growing in use as wind energy becomes more prevalent.
