Chapter 8:
Enhancing Bandpass Filters
Abstract
A bandpass filter often requires the combination of several thin-film structures to ensure that only the wavelengths in the bandpass region are transmitted. In many cases, such composite filters comprise several individual thin-film structures deposited on separate glass plates. When cemented together, these individual structures result in a single optical bandpass filter. The resulting optical filter can be composed of three or more glass plates epoxied together and can result in a fairly thick optical element.
