Abstract

The location where inspections or tests occur is known as the source, i.e., where the optical items or processes were manufactured (producer) or at the customer’s (buyer) location. The decision of where to conduct the inspection (in house or at the source) depends on the organization’s (customer’s) procedures and on additional information that specifies each lot to be inspected and the authorities responsible for it (engineering, quality assurance (QA), purchasing, project manager, or the manager of the organization).
