Mounting Optical Components
Abstract
Paul Yoder stated it precisely in the preface of the first edition of his book, Opto-Mechanical Systems Design (M. Dekker, 1986), with the sentence, “In the design of any optical instrument, optical and mechanical considerations are not separate entities, they are merely two phases of a single problem.” This is immediately recognizable by looking at one of his illustrations (Fig. 12.1), which shows the assembly of an eyepiece.
