An adhesive is defined as any substance capable of holding objects together by surface attachment. This class of materials includes cement, glue, paste, epoxy, silicone, urethane, and any material causing one body to adhere to another. Adhesion is the state in which interfacial forces hold two surfaces together. These forces may consist of valence forces, interlocking actions, or both.
