Chapter 5:
1-D Quaternion and Octonion Discrete Fourier Transforms
Abstract
The quaternion discrete Fourier transform (QDFT) is an effective and well-suited tool for many color image processing applications, including the image analysis, filtration and enhancement, and watermarking. In color models, such as RGB, RGBY, XYZ, CMY, and others [10], the QDFT processes all three or four color components simultaneously, it captures the inherent correlation between the components, it does not generate color artifacts or blending, and finally, it does not need an additional color restoration process.
