Chapter 5:
Orbital Mechanics Interlude
Abstract
The design and operation of remote-sensing systems depends on the orbital motion of the satellites they employ, and consequently a proper understanding of how they work and how to exploit them requires knowledge of orbital mechanics. This chapter provides an understanding of orbital mechanics as it impacts remote sensing. One important consequence of orbital mechanics is the impact it has on coverage of targets and telemetry.
