The foundations for radar imaging were established in the previous chapter. This chapter examines some of the imaging radar systems used over the last 20 years, the types of imaging products they have produced, and some of the non-literal analysis techniques that make use of interferometry. The Shuttle Imaging Radar (SIR) is used for illustration first because it is the only system to fly in space with multiple wavelengths and the first to offer multiple polarizations.
