Abstract
One of the objectives of holographers has been the production of holograms that reconstruct a bright 3D image in natural colors. This chapter presents the seminal contributions of Emmett Leith and Yuri Denisyuk to this field; it also reviews the problems encountered by early workers and describes some advances which have made multicolor holography practical.
