Chapter 8:
Image Formation in Terms of the Transfer Function
Editor(s): George O. Reynolds; John B. DeVelis; George B. Parrent; Brian J. Thompson
Abstract
In previous chapters, we demonstrated that an imaging system may be analyzed either in the domain of spatial coordinates, i.e., in terms of its impulse response (diffraction pattern), or in the domain of spatial frequencies, i.e., in terms of its transfer function. Analysis in terms of the impulse response was illustrated in Chapter 5. Here we illustrate the transfer function analysis. To minimize mathematical complexities, we have limited the analysis to one dimension.
