This appendix summarizes some of the points made in the body of the book. A successful project starts with a clear description of the problem to be solved. However, well-defined ATR programs and tasks are the exception rather than the rule. One way to get a project going is by posing questions to the customer. The customer can be internal to one’s own organization or an external prime contractor or governmental organization. To pose a question is to bring attention to the true nature of the problem. The questions do not have to be directed to a particular person and do not have to be answered immediately.
