Identification of individuals on the basis of facial features is the most natural method of distinguishing one individual from another. In this paper, we propose novel histogram and wavelethistogram methods as means of identifying individuals in a mugshot application. We note that these methods are suitable for real time implementation and provide a high degree of tolerance towards facial expression changes.
