28 April 2018 Stray light analysis, baffle, and optical design of a high-resolution satellite camera

Abstract
A high-resolution optical system is designed for a remote sensing satellite camera in low earth orbit, with an entrance pupil diameter and effective focal length of 110 and 840 mm, respectively. The modulation transfer function of the camera is equal to 0.8 at a Nyquist frequency and the image quality is close to the diffraction limit. In the next step, stray light is analyzed and a baffle with 13 internal vanes is designed. Results show that stray lights can be completely eliminated at angles greater than 2.5 deg, whereas at angles less than 2.5 deg the intensity of stray lights is reduced up to 100,000 times of its original intensity.
