Abstract
A wavelet, being a bank of matched filters at a constant fidelity, is appropriate for low bandwidth video communication–compression and is also proposed here to test the video contrast sensitivity surface. This generalization permits us to evaluate the trade-off between the spatial redundancy versus temporal redundancy reductions. This paper addresses the relationship between very low bandwidth video compression and human perception for target discrimination using video.
