Abstract
Results of theoretical and experimental investigations of local fields in prepercolation ultrathin nanostructured silver films are presented. Numerical calculations based on the film structure obtained by atomic force microscopy imaging indicate that a substantial amplification of the initial exciting field is possible. The effect is experimentally confirmed by luminescence and Raman measurements.
