1 March 1996 Theoretical analysis of deformed optical waveguides used in pressure and displacement sensors
Author Affiliations +
Using a novel perturbation analysis of 3-D optical waveguides subjected to deformation, we present simple formulas to calculate changes in propagation constants and coupling coefficients. We apply these formulas to design an integrated optical (Si3N4/SiO2/Si) Mach- Zehnder displacement and pressure sensor based on optical path deformation and elasto-optic effect.
