An analog nonlinear optoelectronic image-processing system for detection of moving objects in an input image stream is proposed and analyzed. Its operation is based on the effect of self-suppression of a stationary-state image background, with enhancement of the contrast of a moving object. Analytical results obtained in the linear approximation are verified by direct numerical simulations.
