1 August 2002 General computer model for both Erbium-doped fiber amplifier and fiber Raman amplifier

We review recent numerical models for both an erbium-doped fiber amplifier (EDFA) and a fiber Raman amplifier (FRA) based on the average power analysis technique and other similar approaches. By applying the basic characteristics of the models, a general computer model is proposed for both EDFA and FRA. A numerical solution for this general computer model is also thoroughly discussed.
