Abstract
The development of angioscopy has resulted in a variety of approaches and equipment, all with the fundamental purpose of looking inside the cardiovascular system. In this paper, the variations in design of commercially available angioscopes are discussed, along with the differences in methods of introduction into the patient, balloon placement, and steering capabilities. Finally, suggestions are made for the design of future angioscopic devices that would provide more usable units for clinical studies.
