Abstract

This volume is a collection of individual monographs organized in terms of application areas for passive materials and in terms of the specific optical effect for active materials. In this sense, active optical materials refers to those materials for which the incident electromagnetic energy changes the optical characteristics of the medium. All discussions are with particular reference to laser-related applications.
