Abstract
A new method, exclusively applicable to retroreflective objects, is proposed for making rainbow holograms. The object is illuminated with a coherent wave scattered from a diffuse slit. The retroreflected object beam retraces the path of the incident beam, thus producing a slitlike function in the plane of convergence.
