Abstract
This paper presents the architecture of an optical artificial intelligence system that uses mathematical resolution to reason from facts to conclusions. Data storage, logical operations, and interconnection are all accomplished using medium-scale optical components. The system performs parallel inference and search to achieve high performance. Alternative architectures are considered, and simulation results are presented that demonstrate the effect of variations in system architecture.
