Abstract
The folded perfect shuffle was proposed to implement the 1-D perfect shuffle by folding the 1-D input data array into a 2-D array, which has the inherent advantage of wholly using the space-bandwidth product of the 2-D optical system. We suggest several methods to implement the folded perfect shuffle using quadrant-encoded gratings and proper spatial filters. The general principles of this interconnection network are described and the experimental results are given.
