The electro-optic properties of a new ferroelectric liquid crystal
that shows isotropic (I)-chiral smectic-C (SmC*) phase transition are
studied. This exhibits bistable electro-optic switching in the SmC* phase.
The dependence of the rotational viscosity versus temperature are
determined.
