Abstract
This book provides an overview of current theoretical and experimental research in the area of temporal solitons in optical fibers. These solitons are nondispersive light pulses based on the nonlinearity of the fiber’s refractive index. With the advent of low loss single-mode optical fibers, the applications to long-distance all-optical highbit- rate communications are being vigorously pursued by several laboratories throughout the world.
