Abstract
We describe a new method for measuring spatially nonuniform phase changes of a light beam from the spatial nonuniformity of the phase changes, which is obtained by detecting the relative reflectivity change of a self-pumped phase-conjugate mirror. The method is designed to decrease the accumulation of calculating errors. The usefulness of these methods is verified through computer simulations and measurements of the phase changes caused by spatially nonuniform deformation of a semitransparent sheet of silicone gum.
